Amanda Edwards

Deputy Mayor Co-opted Councillor

My ties to Llanwrtyd date back though at least six generations and no matter how far I have been from this area I am always drawn back to this place that has had such an influence of my life and that of my family.

I have worked at a senior level within a variety of complex public sector organisations; including central and local government, Health, the Police Service and the Criminal Courts. I have worked for Powys Teaching Health Board in a number of senior roles most recently in the new role as Assistant of Innovation and Improvement, Working with Independent Members and executives of the both the health board and Powys County Council, has given me an insight into not only the workings of Powys but, as I work closely with Welsh Government, to the wider government agenda in respect of service transformation and Cabinet Secretary expectations.

Since moving back to Llanwrtyd in 2014 my husband and I have raised our two children here and we have played an active part in the local community. Having spent so much time here from a young child and, at one point attending the local primary school, I believe I understand what makes Llanwrtyd such a special place and I am keen to help the town to grow and prosper whilst not loosing sight of the history of the place.
