Cheryl Rickard

Co-opted Councillor

I moved to Llanwrtyd in 2019, on retirement, from living and working with the British Forces in Germany for 32 years. My husband and I bought our house in Llanwrtyd Wells in 2011 and we spent most of the school holidays here for the next 8 years. Over this time, we have come to appreciate the amazing community spirit within the town and surrounding area. An area I am familiar with as one strand of my family originate from Cilycwm.

I grew up in Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen and went to School there and, as a Welsh speaker, went on to Ysgol Gyfun Ystalyfera going on to University in Swansea, where I qualified as a teacher.

I have joined the Twinning Association and volunteered as a marshal on Green Events and I look forward to joining and supporting other organisations in Llanwrtyd Wells. I believe that I will be able to support many aspects of this wonderful community. As I am quite new to Llanwrtyd Wells I hope I can bring some fresh ideas to blend with the traditional, established ways to make the very best use of the resources and services available to the townspeople through the Town Council.
